Estonia imposes entry-ban on Georgian PM
Estonia has banned another 14 Georgian officials from entering the Baltic country, including reigning Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, has announced this new decree on his X social media account on December 15, as reported by Caliber.Az.
"We have added 14 more Georgian officials and prime ministers to the list and imposed a ban on their entry into Estonia," he noted.
Minister Tsahkna's statement reads that "violence against protesters, journalists, and opposition leaders is unacceptable, criminal, and contrary to human rights."
Notably, the move comes amid a wider wave of sanctions being imposed against Georgian officials by Western governments amid rising tensions between the South Caucasian country's political fractions, which led to a recent presidential election that saw a member of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party replace former president Salome Zourabichvili, an independent candidate closely siding with the pro-Western opposition bloc.
