Israel eliminates Hamas Jabaliya commander in Gaza strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) carried out a strike in northern Gaza overnight September 14, killing Ahmad Batash, commander of Hamas’ Jabaliya Battalion in the Northern Gaza Brigade, the IDF said.
According to the IDF, Batash was responsible for managing and organising weapons for the Northern Gaza Brigade and coordinating the supply of weapons and military equipment to Hamas operatives.
The military stated Batash had recently advanced terrorist attacks targeting Israeli troops and civilians and had been involved in efforts to restore Hamas’ military capabilities, in what the IDF described as a systematic violation of the ceasefire.
The IDF noted that precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance were used during the strike to mitigate the risk of civilian casualties.
