Germany records over 1.35 million Ukrainian refugees

The report said the arrivals came despite European Union rules under which Ukrainian men of draft age are generally required to obtain explicit authorisation from Ukrainian authorities to enter Germany.

According to RND, more than 416,400 Ukrainians who had fled the war were recorded as having arrived in Germany by July. The figure rose to more than 419,600 in August.

Despite the increase, the overall number of Ukrainian refugees in Germany has changed only modestly.

As of the end of August, 1,358,212 Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Germany after the outbreak of the war were registered in the country, compared with 1,329,904 at the beginning of the year.
