Azerbaijani former IDPs resettled in Khojavend receive keys to homes PHOTO

Azerbaijani former IDPs returning to the villages of Guneykhirman and Guzeykhirman in Azerbaijan’s Khojavend district were handed the keys to their new homes today.

At the first stage, 18 families comprising 82 people were relocated to Guzeykhirman, while 21 families comprising 103 people moved to Guneykhirman, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

These families had previously been temporarily housed in dormitories, sanatoriums, camps, unfinished buildings and administrative facilities in various regions of the country.

After welcoming the families to the villages, staff from Azerbaijan’s National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) briefed them on the dangers posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance.

The families were advised to stay away from unfamiliar objects and sites and to immediately notify the relevant authorities if they encountered any.

The key handover ceremony was attended by officials from the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as other officials.

The families accepted the keys with joy and moved into their new homes.

Former internally displaced persons returning to their native region expressed deep satisfaction with the state’s care and thanked the country’s leadership for creating modern living conditions for them.

The residents also paid tribute to the memory of the heroic martyrs who secured the historic Victory and liberated the lands at the cost of their lives, and prayed for the repose of their souls.

At the same time, wishing good health to the veterans who demonstrated courage in the fighting, they emphasised that the revival of the territories liberated from occupation had become possible precisely because of this selfless sacrifice.

They noted that the new life beginning today was also a product of the victory entrusted to them by the martyrs and veterans.

Former Azerbaijani IDPs are being relocated to the villages of Guzeykhirman and Guneykhirman in the Khojavand district, and to Kichik Galadara in the Shusha district, as part of the Great Return program, in line with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s directive.

In the first stage, 18 families comprising 82 people returned to Guzeykhirman, while 21 families comprising 103 people moved to Guneykhirman, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

A further 11 families, or 39 people, moved back to Kichik Galadara.

They had previously lived temporarily in various regions of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums and administrative buildings,

The returning residents expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive state support provided to them.

They also thanked the Azerbaijani Army and the servicemen and officers who liberated the territories from occupation, and paid tribute to those killed during the hostilities.
