Pakistan’s army chief meets Iranian top lawmaker amid mediation efforts
General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, has met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as part of his official visit to the Islamic Republic.
The meeting followed the General’s arrival in Tehran on April 15, where he was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The two officials held discussions prior to Munir’s engagement with the Speaker of Parliament.
Given Pakistan’s role as a mediator in recent Iran–US negotiations, the talks are understood to have focused on the current status of discussions between Tehran and Washington, as well as related diplomatic developments.
The visit highlights the strategic importance of military and diplomatic coordination between the two neighbors.
