Pentagon expands ammunition production to support military aid Invests $5.3 billion since 2022
The US Department of Defense has announced a significant expansion in its ammunition production capacity, following a $5.3 billion investment aimed at supporting military aid to Ukraine.
The information was detailed in a recent Pentagon report published on the department's website, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the report, the increase in production capacity reflects a substantial rise from 2022 levels. The same year, US produced 14,400 rounds of 155-millimeter shells, five HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and 21 Patriot missile systems.
Current production figures have surged, with the monthly output of 155-millimeter shells now reaching 40,000, HIMARS systems increasing to eight per month, and Patriot missile systems rising to 42 per month.
