Israeli Air Force attacks Hamas military headquarters in Gaza
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have conducted a targeted strike on a Hamas military headquarters located in a building complex in Gaza that had formerly been used as a school.
Hamas militants were present in the building at the time of the attack, Caliber.Az reports via IDF.
The IDF has reported that the facility was utilised by Hamas for planning and executing military operations against Israel.
The armed forces described the incident as "another example of Hamas systematically misusing civilian infrastructure in violation of international law."
In a statement, the IDF’s press office emphasised that measures were implemented to minimise civilian casualties before the strike. The IDF reiterated its commitment to continuing operations against Hamas to protect Israeli citizens.
Notably, since the beginning of the Israeli military operation in Gaza in October 2023, 41,182 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, with an additional 95,280 individuals wounded.
The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza to destroy Hamas in response to an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, during which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.
