President's rep: Azerbaijan's goal - to return residents to Aghdam by late 2026
The president's special representative in the liberated territories of the Karabakh Economic Region (except Shusha district), Emin Huseynov, has said that Azerbaijan aims to return residents to liberated Aghdam by late 2026.
“Our goal is to return residents to Aghdam city and the surrounding villages by late 2026 in accordance with the state programme,” APA reports, citing the special representative.
He said that “the general plan of Aghdam city was approved and unveiled first among all the districts liberated from occupation”.
He outlined ongoing large-scale restoration and construction work in the Aghdam district.
“The important demining work has been carried out and the basic infrastructure has been created. The implementation of road, railway construction projects, as well as power line construction projects is under completion. That is, most of these projects will be implemented by early next year. At the same time, large-scale work is underway to create the social and economic infrastructure,” the special representative said.
“The work is underway to create new jobs in the Aghdam Industrial Park, the construction of a hospital and school #1 is under completion. The historical and cultural monuments are also being restored,” Huseynov added.
“A logical result is that the residential quarters are already designed, and we will begin construction of residential quarters from the middle of next year,” he noted.
