Russia to submit resolution to UN to prevent arms race in outer space

Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN office and other international organisations in Geneva Andrei Belousov has said that Russia intends to submit a resolution to prevent an arms race in space.

“We intend to submit a resolution on further practical measures to prevent an arms race in outer space to the First Committee of the UN General Assembly this year. It will envisage the re-establishment of the UN Group of Governmental Experts,” TASS quotes the diplomat as saying.

He also added that in this way the Russian Federation is trying to restart the multilateral dialogue on this priority topic.
