Russian president hosts Iran’s top diplomat as Middle East tensions boil over
Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the Kremlin, as tensions continue to escalate across the Middle East.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of intensifying hostilities, with Israel conducting daily strikes on Iranian targets since June 13, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The stated objective of the Israeli operation is the destruction of the Islamic Republic’s missile and nuclear programs.
The conflict has been further exacerbated by the United States’ direct involvement, notably through its attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities on the night of June 22, marking a significant escalation in the confrontation.
President Putin last held talks with the Iranian foreign minister on April 17. During that meeting, the two sides discussed the advancement of bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and coordination in the international arena.
