Tehran, Bishkek align on SCO summit, regional stability
The leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Iran held discussions on the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit during a telephone conversation on May 26.
The call between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was initiated by Tehran.
During the conversation, the two leaders exchanged congratulations ahead of Kurman Ait (Eid al-Adha), extending wishes of peace, prosperity, and well-being to the peoples of both countries.
The sides also discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation and coordination within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, as the current SCO chair, attaches particular importance to strengthening the organization’s role in promoting peace, trust, and cooperation.
The presidents highlighted the significance of the upcoming SCO summit in Kyrgyzstan and expressed interest in ensuring its successful organization.
On the situation in the Middle East, Japarov stressed the need to resolve all issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means and expressed hope for a swift stabilization of the region.
At the conclusion of the call, the presidents reaffirmed their commitment to further developing Kyrgyz-Iranian relations.
