Türkiye “neutralizes” over 150 terrorists in Iraq, Syria /VIDEO
The Turkish Army has “neutralized” more than 150 terrorists in northern parts of Iraq and Syria.
“We conducted effective and comprehensive air operations against terrorist targets in northern Iraq on 1-3 and 4 October, and in northern Syria on 5-6 and 8 October, using ground fire support,” Caliber.Az reports, quoting the Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler as saying.
“During these successful operations, many facilities belonging to the terrorist organisation, as well as sources of revenue and facilities used by the organisation were destroyed, and more than 150 terrorists were ‘neutralized’,” Guler said.
According to him, the Turkish Army will continue to fight terrorism with increasing effect and intense pressure.
Turkish authorities use the term "neutralise" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
Türkiye launched Operation Claw-Lock last year in April to target the terror group PKK's hideouts in the Metina, Zap, and Avasin-Basyan regions of northern Iraq, located near the Turkish border.
It was preceded by two operations – Claw-Tiger and Claw-Eagle – launched in 2020 to root out terrorists hiding in northern Iraq and plotting cross-border attacks in Türkiye.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
