UK expert praises speed, organisation of Karabakh reconstruction
The pace of reconstruction in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories is striking, according to a senior British urban planning expert.
Marcelina Zielinska, Chair of the Board at UK-based architecture firm Chapman Taylor, spoke to reporters at the III National Urban Forum of Azerbaijan (NUFA3) in Khankendi, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She noted that she has visited the region for the fourth consecutive year and observed significant progress.
“Each visit shows the energy, speed, and high level of organisation driving these projects, along with a careful respect for preserved resources,” Zielinska said. “Despite the losses, there is a clear commitment to restoring the cities to their former glory. The scale of the task is enormous, and everyone wants the reconstruction to happen as quickly as possible, but the key is ensuring people are satisfied with the results.”
She emphasised that the restoration effort requires meticulous planning and considerable resources.
“With a population of just around 10 million, this small but remarkable nation faces the challenge of rebuilding extensive territories. Finding the right specialists to deliver on these plans is a major hurdle. Yet, despite the complexity, the progress is genuinely impressive,” she added.
