US army conducts training with Armenian forces Amid tensions with Azerbaijan
Despite professing a commitment to fostering peace in the South Caucasus, the United States appears to be bolstering Armenia’s military capabilities in preparation for potential conflict with Azerbaijan.
Reports from Armenian media indicate that from 9-20 September, the Kansas Army National Guard engaged in a "professional development exchange" with Armenian Armed Forces personnel, Caliber.Az reports.
This initiative, part of the "Phoenix Platoon" program, aims to enhance the skills of non-commissioned officers (NCOs) through shared expertise in mission planning and management. The program underscores a growing military partnership, raising concerns about the implications for regional stability.
As tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to simmer, this collaboration could be interpreted as a signal of US support for Armenia in its ongoing disputes with its neighbor.
