It was previously reported that the TF-2000 destroyer was expected to be equipped with the 64-cell MIDLAS vertical launch system, but the design has added significantly to its combat “weight”, showing an increase in the number of VPU cells from 64 to 96.
The 96-cell MIDLAS vertical launch system will accommodate:
· GEZGİN cruise missile
· ATMACA anti-ship missile
· SİPER Block ID air defence missile.
Thus, the TF-2000 will be able to engage ground targets at a distance of hundreds of kilometres, protect the accompanying task force from air targets at a distance of more than 100 kilometres, sea targets at a distance of more than 250 kilometres and underwater targets at a distance of more than 50 kilometres.
