Zelenskyy open to direct talks with Putin at G20 summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is prepared to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the upcoming G20 summit in Miami if Putin attends the gathering.

In an interview with German broadcaster DW, Zelenskyy said he would attend the summit in December if the Russian leader were also present, stressing that direct talks should focus on achieving concrete results.

“Yes, of course. We have to meet, to speak and make decisions. It’s not about words, what I will tell him or what he wants to tell me. It doesn’t matter. Matters only result. Result matters. That’s it,” he said. 

Putin has not attended a G20 summit in person since 2019, although Russia has continued to participate in the forum through senior officials.
