Armenian opposition leader calls for greater political engagement

Armenian businessman and opposition politician Gagik Tsarukyan has called on members of his Prosperous Armenia party to take a more active role in the country’s political and public life.

Tsarukyan, who is currently under arrest, said in a message to party members that a political programme he proposed last year remains relevant. He described the programme as a long-term strategy rather than a plan limited to a specific period, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

Tsarukyan said Armenia faces serious challenges that require greater political unity and consolidation.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation with other political parties and organisations, as well as with international partners, according to his message.
