Moscow concerned over worsening tensions in Karabakh

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova has expressed serious concern over the escalation of tension in Karabakh.

There have been repeated violations of the ceasefire in recent days, Caliber.Az reports.

An armed incident sparked on March 5 resulting in casualties on both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides.

"We urge the parties to show restraint and take steps to de-escalate the situation. We reiterate the need for strict observance of the provisions of the Statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, on a complete ceasefire and all military action in Karabakh," Zakharova said.

"The incident once again confirms the urgency of Baku and Yerevan's early return to the talks as part of the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022, including the unblocking of regional communications, delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and preparation of a peace treaty," the statement said.
