Armenia confirms peace agreement with Azerbaijan ready for signing

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has confirmed that the agreement with Azerbaijan, aimed at establishing peace and interstate relations between the two countries, is ready for signing.

The announcement follows the finalization of negotiations on the draft agreement, with Armenia accepting Azerbaijan's proposals on the two previously unresolved articles, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.

In a statement, the Armenian Foreign Ministry conveyed that it had communicated through diplomatic channels with Azerbaijan, informing them of Armenia’s acceptance of the terms. The ministry confirmed that both sides had reached an agreement on the draft "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan."

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the agreement is now complete, and the negotiations have been finalized. Armenia expressed its readiness to engage in consultations with Azerbaijan to determine the date and location for the signing of the agreement.

“Thus, the Peace Agreement is ready for signing. The Republic of Armenia is ready to begin consultations with the Republic of Azerbaijan on the dates and place of signing the agreement,” it stated.

Earlier today Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said the parties had agreed on the terms of a draft peace treaty.

The announcement marks a significant step towards peace and reconciliation in the region, as both countries work toward resolving long-standing issues. The finalization of the peace agreement follows several rounds of negotiations and demonstrates the willingness of both parties to move forward in the interest of regional stability.

The peace agreement is expected to pave the way for improved diplomatic relations, economic cooperation, and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, marking a pivotal moment in the South Caucasus.
