Armenia prepares for renewed war Pashinyan's hypocrisy unmasked

03 August 2024 15:03

This news report once again exposes the Armenian leadership's hypocrisy in claiming readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. According to Yerevan media, former commander of Karabakh separatist groups Kamo Vardanyan has been appointed Advisor to Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan. This appointment has sparked dissatisfaction, particularly from the Zhokhovurd newspaper.

The newspaper reminds readers that a year after the 2020 war, Major General Kamo Vardanyan was appointed Minister of Defence and Commander of Army by Araik Harutyunyan's order. Vardanyan was the minister when "Artsakh" was surrendered. Additionally, before the surrender, Vardanyan effectively handed over all the republic's armaments to Azerbaijan, the Armenian newspaper said.

Furthermore, the newspaper implicitly accuses Kamo Vardanyan of betraying his associates in the Karabakh junta. "It's possible that surrendering the homeland and arming the enemy came at a price. Kamo Vardanyan and 'Artsakh President' Samvel Shahramanyan were on the same plane returning from 'Artsakh' and landed in Sisian," hints Zhokhovurd. This insinuation warrants further discussion.

Firstly, the repeated use of the term "Artsakh," which has resonated with Armenian separatists, terrorists, and mythmakers for nearly three decades, underscores the persistent revanchism in Armenia. These sentiments are deeply entrenched and will likely never disappear, as they continue to be actively fueled. As observed, the current Armenian leadership is perpetuating this narrative. We will revisit this point shortly, but for now, let's consider another aspect.

This narrative is an example of Armenian media attempting to undermine the heroism of the Azerbaijani army, which successfully liberated all the temporarily occupied territories of the country. The claim about the "surrender" of territories serves to soothe the egos of Armenian revanchists.

They argue that if it weren't for the "betrayal" by certain members of the Karabakh junta, Armenia would not have been defeated. This is clearly a falsehood. The Azerbaijani army achieved a historic victory in the 44-day war and executed a brilliantly planned one-day anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh region, thanks to the well-crafted strategies and the heroism and courage of our soldiers and officers. There was no "surrender" of the temporarily occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

There was an underestimation of the strength and heroism of our army and an overestimation of its capabilities by the leadership of both Armenia and the Karabakh junta. Currently, there is an internal political conflict in Armenia, where blame is being shifted around, and the article by Zhokhovurd newspaper is part of this effort.

In reality, Kamo Vardanyan's appointment as Advisor to the Armenian Defence Minister indicates a significant shortage of qualified personnel within the Armenian defence ministry. While Armenia may purchase various weapons from different sources, the appointment of a former commander of the Armenian occupation troops as an advisor to the Defence Minister reveals that there is a lack of capable leadership to manage the army.

However, a more significant aspect of this move by official Yerevan is the appointment of Vardanyan, who has committed atrocities against the Azerbaijani people. His appointment as an advisor to Armenia's Defence Minister further exposes the hypocrisy and deceit of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his administration's claims of being ready for peace. In reality, they are actively preparing for a new war, banking on political and military support from their new allies—the United States and France. Baku is fully aware of this and is drawing its own conclusions.
