Bronze Age settlement unearthed in southern Azerbaijan Photo
Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a Bronze Age settlement in southern Azerbaijan during road construction works in the village of Kechelekeran, located on the right bank of the Vilyashchay River.
The excavation revealed the foundations of ancient dwellings constructed from river stones, along with fragments of domestic pottery of varying shapes and sizes, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The site also yielded miniature household items, bone spindle whorls, and numerous osteological remains of both large and small livestock.
Experts say the findings point to a well-developed culture of pottery and textile production, as well as evidence of widespread animal husbandry in the domestic economy of the period.
Archaeological investigations are currently ongoing in the Yardimli District, focusing on a settlement dating from the Late Bronze to Early Iron Age.
