Azerbaijan border guards seize drugs smuggled from Iran

Azerbaijan’s State Border Service has intercepted a large consignment of narcotics allegedly smuggled from Iran into the country, the service said.

The incident occurred on September 11, when the “Goradiz” border guard detachment detected 65.5 kilograms of narcotics in the border area at around 03:11 local time, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the State Border Service, the drugs had been dropped into the area using a paraglider.

Operational and investigative measures are currently underway, the service added.
