Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss expanding police cooperation PHOTO

Azerbaijan and Türkiye have discussed expanding cooperation between their law enforcement agencies and developing joint activities, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has stated.

The ministry said, during the talks, the two sides – Azerbaijani Interior Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov and a delegation led by Türkiye’s Chief of Police Ali Fidan – focused on combating global threats, including various forms of crime, Caliber.Az reports.

Earlier, Fidan and accompanying officials visited the Alley of Honour, where they paid tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev. They also visited the grave of prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva and laid flowers.

Fidan and the delegation arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the ninth working meeting on police cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Turkish interior ministries, which is being held in Baku.

Eyvazov noted with satisfaction that relations between the Azerbaijani and Turkish interior ministries were at a high level, stressing the importance of further expanding interaction between the law enforcement agencies of the two brotherly countries and developing joint activities.

He expressed confidence that working meetings held within the framework of police cooperation would make an important contribution to exchanging experience and improving the effectiveness of practical activities.

Fidan thanked the Azerbaijani side for the reception and hospitality. He highly valued the effectiveness of cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries.

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün also attended the meeting.
