Public figures honor fallen heroes on Azerbaijan’s Remembrance Day PHOTO

Members of the public are visiting the Military Memorial Cemetery in Baku on the sixth anniversary of the start of Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War, which ended in victory for Azerbaijan.

Residents of the capital, along with people who have arrived from various regions of the country, are visiting the graves of martyrs and laying flowers in their memory, according to local media.

On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army, under the order of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, launched a counteroffensive along the entire frontline to prevent military provocations, suppress the combat activity of the Armenian armed forces, and ensure the security of Azerbaijan’s civilian population.

The operation began in response to large-scale Armenian provocations, including strikes on Azerbaijani Army positions and populated areas. It subsequently became known as the “Iron Fist” operation and marked the beginning of the Patriotic War.
