Azerbaijan honors memory of martyrs with minute of silence PHOTO

Azerbaijan observed a minute of silence across the country at noon (12:00 p.m.) on September 27 to honor the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives fighting for the country’s territorial integrity.

According to AZERTAC, citizens bowed their heads and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers and officers during the nationwide minute of silence. State flags were flown at half-mast, traffic was temporarily halted, and vehicles sounded their horns.

Under an order signed by President Ilham Aliyev on December 2, 2020, September 27 is observed annually in Azerbaijan as Remembrance Day as a mark of deep respect for the soldiers and officers who fought heroically in the Patriotic War and gave their lives for the country’s territorial integrity, as well as for all Azerbaijani martyrs.

Today, ceremonies commemorating the martyrs are being held in cities and regions across the country, including the liberated territories, where tribute is being paid to their memory with deep respect.
