Armenia to initiate criminal proceedings against pro-opposition MP

A criminal case will be initiated against Armenian MP Mher Sahakyan.

The Armenian Prosecutor General's motion was adopted unanimously by 65 votes in favour (32 other MPs did not participate in the vote), Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Armenian media outlets recall that a dispute between MPs Vladimir Vardanyan (ruling Civil Contract party) and Mher Sahakyan (former president Robert Kocharyan's Armenia faction), which escalated into a scuffle, occurred at a closed session in the Armenian parliament on March 31.

As a result, Vardanyan was hospitalised in a medical facility.
