Denmark pledges over $290 million to strengthen Ukraine's air defence
The Danish government has announced it will allocate 2.1 billion kroner ($293 million) to enhance Ukraine's air defence and combat aviation capabilities, marking the 23rd package of military assistance to Kyiv.
According to the Danish Ministry of Defence, the support will be aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defence through collaboration with international partners, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The package will also include funding for the operation of Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets.
In addition, Denmark, in partnership with Sweden, will supply several CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.
Additionally, the remaining EUR 36.8 million will be redirected to enhance the financial support for "the development of Ukraine's fighter aircraft capacity," according to the statement.
Overall, Denmark has allocated EUR 8.6 billion for military aid to Ukraine between 2023 and 2028, which is being managed through a dedicated Ukrainian fund. Over EUR 6.7 billion has already been spent or committed.
In October, the Danish government unveiled its 21st military assistance package to Ukraine, focusing on both providing weapons from its stockpiles and procuring them from international suppliers.
In December, Ukraine also received a second batch of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark.
