North Korea condemns US missile sale to South Korea, vows response
27 August 2026 17:57
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry has condemned a US decision to approve the sale of missiles and related equipment to South Korea, warning that Pyongyang would respond with a “swift and decisive” reaction to Washington’s actions.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported the statement.
Pyongyang said US weapons deliveries would strengthen South Korea’s military capabilities. The deal includes AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles valued at about $125 million.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry also expressed concern about what it described as growing military integration between the United States and its allies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pyongyang said it was prepared to “respond decisively and seriously to such actions.”
