Latvian FM says Russia seeks to starve world as it attacks grain infrastructure

27 August 2026 14:39

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has said Russia is attacking Ukrainian grain infrastructure to starve the world.

Sharing a post on X, she noted that attacks on grain infrastructure, ports and sea routes affect approximately 400 million people worldwide, particularly in some of the most vulnerable countries, Caliber.Az reports.

Braze was responding to a post by her Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, about the consequences of Russian airstrikes on Ukraine overnight on August 27.

Sybiha reported that overnight, Russia carried out a massive strike against Ukraine, targeting ports, grain storage, energy, industry, and other infrastructure with ballistic and hypersonic missiles and combat drones.

“This is state terrorism. It does not show strength; it shows helplessness. Putin cannot and will not achieve anything on the battlefield. Instead, he is betting on terrorizing our cities, ports, and critical infrastructure,” he wrote.
