Body found in aircraft landing gear compartment in Malaysia
The body of an unidentified person was found in the landing gear compartment of a passenger aircraft at Terminal 2 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.
The Straits Times reports that the aircraft arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Tokyo and landed in the morning local time.
About 25 minutes later, engineering and technical staff detected an unpleasant smell coming from the landing gear compartment. After opening the compartment, they discovered the body.
According to preliminary information, the deceased was approximately 20 years old and had died more than 72 hours earlier. The person was wearing jeans and a white shirt at the time of discovery. Their gender has not yet been established.
Police have launched an investigation and are working to determine where and how the stowaway gained access to the aircraft’s technical compartment.
