Slovakia foils suspected sabotage attempt at Ukrainian drone factory

Slovak authorities have prevented an alleged sabotage attempt targeting a drone factory operated by Ukrainian company Skyeton near the city of Prešov, according to ASTRA, which cited local media reports based on police sources.

Two Latvian citizens and a Ukrainian national were detained on suspicion of attempting to set the facility on fire, the regional prosecutor’s office told Reuters.

Slovak police said the three foreign nationals had been charged with preparing a particularly serious crime that posed a danger to society.

“According to preliminary information, around 70 employees could have been inside the building at the time of the attack. The value of the property in the production hall, according to the information currently available, amounts to tens of millions of euros,” police said.

The reported incident comes amid growing concern in Europe over alleged attacks and sabotage targeting defence-related infrastructure.

Earlier, The Telegraph, citing Western intelligence agencies, reported that Russia had launched a new wave of attacks against defence-industry facilities in Europe.
