Avalanche risk closes road to Georgian-Russian border

Authorities have closed a key section of the road leading to the Georgian-Russian border to all types of transport due to avalanche risks, according to Georgian media cited by Caliber.Az.

The restrictions apply specifically to the 93–107 kilometre stretch of the Gudauri–Kobi road, a critical segment of the route connecting Georgia with Russia. The closure was imposed as a precautionary measure amid concerns over potential avalanches in the mountainous area.

At the same time, traffic remains unaffected on other parts of the route. Vehicles continue to move without restrictions along the Mleta–Gudauri and Gudauri–Kobi sections outside the dangerous zone.
