Azerbaijani first lady shares post on farewell ceremony for AZAL plane crew members PHOTO
Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva has shared a post, honoring the farewell ceremony for the crew members of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane that crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan.
“On December 29, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the farewell ceremony at Heydar Aliyev International Airport for the crew members who perished in the plane crash on the Baku-Grozny route. They expressed their condolences to the family members and loved ones of the deceased,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Mehriban Aliyeva’s message on X.

The crash occurred on December 25, when an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny, tragically crashed near Aktau. The plane was carrying 67 people, including 37 Azerbaijanis, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals. Sadly, 38 people lost their lives in the crash, with 29 survivors.
