Azerbaijani President elevates border guards to Major General Honors fallen heroes
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order awarding the rank of "Major General" to senior officers of the State Border Service.
The decree confers the rank of Major General upon Colonels Bahman Babaev, Eyub Mammadov, and Nasib Mirzayev, Caliber.Az reports.
Under another Order, President Aliyev posthumously awarded three State Border Service personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties.
The awards were granted as follows: Warrant Officer Rufat Aliyev, who became a martyr during the Patriotic War, was posthumously awarded the "Order for Service to the Fatherland" 3rd degree; Major Bakhish Bakhishli, who died in June this year due to a lightning strike in Lachin, was awarded the "For the Motherland" medal; and his soldier, Ali Naghiev, who also perished from a lightning strike while on duty, was awarded the "For Military Merit" medal.
