Azerbaijani, Uzbek presidents chart path for deeper partnership in 2025
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has made a phone call to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to discuss the ongoing deepening of strategic partnership and alliance between the two nations.
The presidents reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation, particularly in the context of agreements reached during President Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August 2023, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The sides hailed the dynamic development of relations and the tangible results achieved under the declared Year of Economic Cooperation.
Both presidents noted a 20 per cent increase in trade turnover since the beginning of 2025, as well as the active implementation of joint projects across diverse sectors such as mechanical engineering, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, and tourism. They also welcomed the progress of an extensive cultural and humanitarian program, which continues to strengthen people-to-people ties.
President Aliyev and President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of comprehensive preparations for several high-level engagements scheduled for later this year. These include upcoming summits, the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission, the regional forum, and a series of cultural events aimed at bolstering bilateral ties.
The leaders also exchanged views on key regional developments and cooperation in multilateral formats, particularly within the Organisation of Turkic States.
