Belarus conducts border exercises in response to regional tensions
Belarus has conducted military exercises along its border with Ukraine and Poland, focusing on countering illegal armed groups.
The Stolin-2024 drills took place in Brest Oblast and were led by Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov, Caliber.Az reports per Belarus media.
The exercises were reportedly prompted by recent operations conducted by Ukrainian troops in Kursk Oblast.
The primary aim of the Stolin-2024 exercise was to thwart the activities of unauthorized armed groups and to bolster security measures along the Belarusian border.
Minister Kubrakov stated that the exercise plan was developed with the situation in Kursk Oblast in mind. He emphasized that the main objective was to ensure the safety of the civilian population and to prevent any potential infiltration of militants into Belarus territories.
