Kazakhstan detects over 30 cases of metapneumovirus amid ongoing epidemic
The Kazakh Health Ministry has noted that more than 30 cases of metapneumovirus infection have been revealed since the beginning of the epidemic season.
"Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 8,360 samples have been tested for non-influenza viruses across the country. Some 1,866 (22 per cent) of them were positive, including coronavirus — 206 (11.1 per cent), parainfluenza — 178 (9.5 per cent), bocavirus — 113 (6.1 per cent), and, lastly, metapneumovirus — 30 (1.6 per cent)," Caliber.Az reports via the ministry’s message on Telegram.
Since the beginning of the epidemiological season in October 2024, more than two million cases of acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) have been revealed.
A mysterious illness causing flu-like symptoms and overwhelming hospitals in China has reportedly reached the UK, sparking concerns among health experts and the public alike.
The disease, identified as human metapneumovirus (hMPV), is said to cause symptoms resembling a mild cold but has been linked to severe respiratory conditions in some cases.
Reports from China describe overcrowded hospitals, particularly those treating children with symptoms such as fever, persistent coughs, and sore throats.
