Air traffic controllers’ strike disrupts flights in Belgium

16 September 2026 12:50

Flights in Belgium were disrupted after air traffic controllers at Charleroi Airport near Brussels went on strike for 24 days, Le Soir reports.

The report said the strike will run from September 16 to October 10, from 10 pm to 8 am inclusive.

The strike was called by one of the trade unions representing local air traffic controllers following unsuccessful negotiations with Skeyes, the company responsible for air traffic control in Belgium.

A labour dispute between the air traffic controllers’ unions and the company’s management has been ongoing for some time.

The dispute concerns the payment of night-time allowances to air traffic controllers at Charleroi Airport.

The planned strike is expected to affect 487 morning flights and 345 night flights.
