The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also commemorated the occasion, stating: “October 18 — the Day of Restoration of Independence — is a symbol of our people’s free will and the revival of our statehood traditions. On the 34th anniversary of the restoration of independence, we sincerely congratulate all our compatriots and wish Azerbaijan eternal independence and sustainable progress.”
The country’s Defence Ministry echoed the sentiment on its Telegram channel, posting: “Our independence is eternal, our state is unwavering! Long live independent Azerbaijan!”
Azerbaijan celebrates the Day of Restoration of Independence on October 18 each year, marking the 1991 adoption of the Constitutional Act that restored the country’s sovereignty. The act declared Azerbaijan the successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–1920) and was later confirmed by a nationwide referendum. Initially called Independence Day, the holiday was renamed in 2021 to emphasise the continuity of statehood.
