Foreign diplomats, military attachés visit Azerbaijan's Lachin checkpoint PHOTO
Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan arrived in Lachin.
The delegation consisted of 60 diplomats and military attachés from 33 countries, according to Report.
During their visit, the foreign diplomats visited the bridge where the border crossing point between Armenia and Azerbaijan is located.
They were informed about recent provocations by Armenia that resulted in one soldier being wounded.
It was also noted that the checkpoint had been open before the armed provocation. Residents of Armenian origin living in Khankendi used it without any obstacles.
On June 15, the Armenian armed forces opened fire from a machine gun in the direction of the Lachin border checkpoint of Azerbaijan.
The shelling was carried out from the Armenian post located in the opposite direction, exactly at the time of the daily ceremony of raising the state flag of Azerbaijan.
As a result of the fire, a serviceman of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan was wounded.
The rival's firing point was suppressed by return fire and the operational situation is under the control of our units, the State Border Service reported.
The wounded soldier was given first aid and there is no threat to life.
"The entire responsibility for this provocation lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia," the State Border Service stated.
