Azerbaijan moves toward green energy with solar plant in Jabrayil district PHOTO
Clean Energy Jabrayil LLC and Baku Steel Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on a solar energy project aimed at supplying renewable energy to Baku Steel Company via the centralised power grid.
The project involves the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in Soltanli village of the Jabrail district, which will be divided into two parts: the Shams and Horizon solar stations, each with a capacity of 50 MW. The generated energy will be used to meet the energy needs of the local industrial sector, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The project will be implemented by two specialised investment entities: Enerso, a subsidiary of Nobel Energy, and Clean Energy Jabrayil, part of Clean Energy Investment LLC, both of which are actively advancing initiatives in the field of green energy.
This partnership underscores the shared commitment of the parties to support Azerbaijan's transition to green energy and contribute to the country's sustainable development goals.
The "Baku Steel Company" is the first modern and largest steel producer in the Caucasus region. Currently, the plant has an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons. The company is a recognized member of the World Steel Association, a prestigious global organisation for leading metallurgical experts, and is the only Azerbaijani company in the South Caucasus to hold this membership. The company is one of Azerbaijan's largest taxpayers and exporters in the non-oil sector.
