Azerbaijan - example for countries seeking independence, says French Guiana journalist
Azerbaijan’s post-war reconstruction and revival of its Karabakh region serve as an inspiring example for countries striving for independence and historical justice, said Javier Nelson, a journalist from French Guiana attending the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum in Shusha.
The Forum provided foreign journalists with a unique opportunity to firsthand witness the scale of the construction and restoration works that are being carried out in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region following their liberation from a decades-long illegal occupation.
“This was a very informative and eventful trip. We learned a lot about the region and saw with our own eyes the scale and careful planning behind the changes taking place here. I was amazed at what Azerbaijan has been able to achieve in such a short period of time. It’s a strong and determined country, and I can only admire what I’ve seen,” he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Nelson further pointed out that Azerbaijan’s experience can serve as an inspiring example for those nations that are striving for independence and the restoration of historical justice themselves.
“As someone from a small country in South America, I feel that Azerbaijan can be a role model for us. Right after the war, you began not only restoring territories but also preserving memory. That is extremely important. It’s clear that every step here is carefully considered, and the result is impressive. To me, this is truly inspiring,” the journalist stated.
Held under the theme “Digital Pathways: Strengthening Information and Media Resilience in the Age of AI,” the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum has already brought together approximately 140 international guests from 52 countries, including representatives of over 30 news agencies, 7 international organisations, and around 80 media institutions.
The forum will run until July 21 and features panel discussions, expert sessions, and field visits to Aghdam and Lachin, highlighting the post-conflict recovery and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories.
