Elon Musk’s xAI launches Grok Imagine video generator for everyone
Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has just opened up its Grok Imagine video generator to the public, allowing everyone to create videos using this innovative tool.
The announcement came via the developers’ page on the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), per Caliber.Az.
GrokPromptFun uses the xAI API to analyze images and provide optimized prompts for Grok Imagine. You can also enter brief image descriptions and get improved Imagine prompts.

Previously, Grok Imagine was exclusive—available only to SuperGrok subscribers through a separate Grok app and Premium+ subscribers on X. Now, it’s one of the few free, publicly accessible video generation services out there, inviting a broader audience to experiment with AI-generated content.
Grok Imagine lets users produce 15-second videos from uploaded images, powered by the Aurora AI model. It offers three distinct modes: Normal, designed for creating straightforward video content; Fun, tailored for lighthearted entertainment; and Spicy, which handles more sensitive and provocative material.
What sets Musk’s Grok Imagine apart is its notably relaxed approach to content moderation. In Spicy mode, for instance, the AI can generate images and videos featuring celebrities. This feature stirred controversy early on when the tool produced provocative images of pop star Taylor Swift, sparking debates around ethics and AI-generated media.
Despite its exciting capabilities, experts note that Grok Imagine still trails behind industry giants like Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s Sora when it comes to the realism of both video and audio output. Nevertheless, Grok Imagine is readily accessible via the current Grok app available on both Android and iOS platforms, making it an intriguing option for users eager to explore AI-driven video creation.
