Azerbaijan opens access to liberated territories for foreign visitors Details
Azerbaijan will begin allowing foreign nationals to visit several cities in its Karabakh region starting July 23, the government announced.
According to a joint statement by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the State Tourism Agency, international visitors will be permitted to travel to Shusha, Lachin, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Khojaly, and Khankendi either via private vehicles or through organised tour groups, contingent upon obtaining a travel permit, Caliber.Az reports.
The measure applies to foreigners staying in Azerbaijan for up to 90 days, as well as those with temporary or permanent residence permits.
Travel authorisation can be secured through the official “Yolumuz Qarabağa” (“Our Way to Karabakh”) portal, which is available in English and Russian and features sections for passport information entry.
In addition to private travel, tourists may join guided tours organised by certified travel agencies registered in Azerbaijan’s tourism registry. Hotel bookings in any of the listed cities will also qualify foreign nationals for entry permits, which will be valid for five days.
