Official: Around 15,000 reside in Karabakh's Aghdara, Khojaly, following restoration efforts
Elchin Yusubov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan, reported that approximately 15,000 people now reside in the Aghdara and Khojaly districts following recent construction and restoration efforts.
During the opening ceremony of the 6th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held in Khankendi, Yusubov explained that the population includes former internally displaced persons returning to their native lands, as well as employees of public and private institutions operating in these areas, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He added that the return of former displaced people has been ensured in the villages of Sugovushan, Hasanriz and Talysh in the Aghdara district, as well as in the city of Khojaly and the villages of Ballija, Tazabina and Khanyurdu in the Khojaly district, where life has now been restored.
The resettlement and restoration work is being carried out in stages according to the planned schedule.
Furthermore, under the 2025 resettlement plan, repair and restoration activities will be conducted in 18 settlements, including 11 villages in Khojaly district — Ballija, Khanyurdu, Tezebine, Dashbulag, Badara, Seidbeyli, Khanabad, Shushakend, Almaly, Mehdibeyli, and Chanagchi — and seven villages in Agdere district — Hasanriz, Vengli, Kolatagh, Childyran, Heyvaly, Chapar, and Ashagy Oratag.
Resettlement efforts in these villages have already begun, with around 6,400 former displaced persons having returned so far.
Plans for further resettlement in these and other settlements are currently being developed, alongside related preparatory work.
