Karabakh is growing, flourishing: Georgian journalist shares impressions

Georgian journalist Tako Tamuna, who frequently visits Azerbaijan, has highlighted the value of firsthand reporting, praising the country’s rich history, culture and nature while describing Karabakh’s transformation as deeply moving. She said each trip allows her to discover new aspects of the country while strengthening ties between the peoples of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Tamuna, who heads a group of Georgian journalists and bloggers visiting Azerbaijan, made the remarks in an interview with local media during the delegation’s visit to Ganja.

She said such visits are particularly important amid the spread of disinformation on social media, allowing journalists, bloggers, cultural figures and experts to experience developments firsthand before sharing their impressions with their audiences.

“We all know that a lot of disinformation is spread on social media today, while reliable information is lacking. That is why journalists, bloggers, cultural figures and experts need to see everything with their own eyes and then tell their audiences, friends, acquaintances and others about it,” Tamuna said.

“I myself often visit Azerbaijan, and every time I come, I rediscover this country for myself. For example, I previously knew nothing about Gobustan or the rock paintings there that are several thousand years old. I learn something new on every visit and once again become convinced of the richness of Azerbaijan's history, culture and nature,” she added.

Tamuna also shared her impressions of visiting Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, describing the experience as deeply moving.

“I was deeply moved when I saw the Victory Arch and the steps in Khankandi. The entire history — what happened during those days — was written on each step,” she said.

She also praised the ongoing development of Karabakh, saying she was pleased to witness the region’s transformation.

“Generally, I would like to add that Karabakh is growing and flourishing before my eyes like a little child. I am very happy for you and wish Azerbaijan continued prosperity,” Tamuna added.
