Construction actively progressing in Kalbajar's inner roads
The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads is actively laying inner-city roads in the city of Kalbajar, which is being revived after years of occupation, said the agency’s spokesperson Anar Najafli.
A total of 26.5 kilometres of roads will be laid in the city at the first stage, 18.9 kilometres of them are already under active construction, Caliber.Az reports.
The roads in Kalbajar are laid from two to six lanes, with green zones, bicycle lanes and pavements.
All work is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Notably, the construction of inner-city roads in Kalbajar, as part of the broader infrastructural developments in Azerbaijan’s recently liberated territories, is progressing steadily. One of the key projects underway is the construction of the Kalbajar-Lachin highway, a significant route that will enhance connectivity and accessibility within the region. This road infrastructure is expected to contribute to the region's economic development and facilitate easier movement.
Additionally, there are ongoing efforts to build other critical roads, including the Toganaly-Kalbajar-Istisu highway and a highway running parallel to the Lachin corridor. These roads are critical for both local residents and the broader economic integration of Kalbajar into Azerbaijan's national framework.
