Moscow launches criminal case against blogger Markaryan for calls of terrorism
Russian authorities have initiated a criminal case against blogger Arsen Markaryan, who may have recently returned to Russia, on charges related to the rehabilitation of Nazism, according to Telegram channel 112.
“The misogynist coach came under investigation back in the spring. All this time, he has been slandering the country from abroad. At that time, Markaryan was declared wanted,” the Telegram post stated.
Law enforcement agencies have also confirmed the existence of the criminal case against the blogger.
Earlier this year, in late January, the Moscow prosecutor’s office reported that expert analysis of Markaryan’s statements revealed calls for terrorism.
The supervisory authority conducted an investigation and forwarded the materials to the relevant investigative bodies for criminal prosecution.
According to the statement, Markaryan “had formed a firm position on the correctness of the ideology and practice of terrorism.”
Markaryan is widely known for his controversial interviews, in which he repeatedly made misogynistic claims, asserting that women are physically and intellectually inferior to men.
