Romanian senator proposes cooperation deal with Karabakh region PHOTO
A delegation led by Cristian Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, chairman of the Romanian Senate’s Committee on Culture and Media and member of the Romania-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group, visited the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan.
During the visit, the delegation toured the cities of Khankendi and Shusha, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In Khankendi, Senator Niculescu-Țâgârlaș met with Sabuhi Gahramanov, deputy special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts.
The Romanian parliamentarian expressed that it was a great honour to be in Karabakh, noting the large-scale restoration work underway under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He highlighted the region’s enormous potential for tourism and industrial development, particularly through international cooperation.
As a result of the visit, Niculescu-Țâgârlaș proposed the signing of a declaration of cooperation between the Maramureș region of Romania and Karabakh in the near future.
He also invited official representatives of Karabakh to visit Maramureș to further strengthen bilateral ties.
