France, Norway, Belgium call on citizens to leave Lebanon
The Foreign Ministries of France, Norway and Belgium have asked their citizens to leave Lebanon, Caliber.Az reports.
This decision was taken in connection with the deteriorating situation in the region and increasing risks to the security of foreign citizens.
In a statement published on the official websites of the foreign ministries of these countries, they say the rising tensions and the threat of military action make it extremely unsafe to stay in Lebanon.
"Due to recent events in the region, following the fall of a rocket on a football field in Majdal Shams, the Foreign Ministry recommends refraining from any travel to Israel, Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, as well as Lebanon. Belgians are also advised to leave Lebanon," the Belgian foreign ministry said in a statement.
The foreign ministries of France, Norway and Belgium urged their citizens to contact their consular services for evacuation instructions immediately. Additional security measures include restricting movement within the country and avoiding crowded areas.
The warnings follow a recent escalation in the conflict between Israel and Shiite Hezbollah militias, raising fears of full-scale hostilities.
